Dana 60 and 44 question
SO I FOUND A FRONT END DANA 60 WITH 4.88 GEARS. mY QUESTION IS IF I GO AHEAD AND GET THAT WITH THOES GEARS WOULD IT BE A BAD IDEA TO JUST PUT NEW 4.88 GEARS IN THE BACK DANA 44 AXEL TO MATCH THE FRONT GEARS AND JUST RUN IT LIKE THAT?
AND IF THAT WOULD WORK WHEN I GET A BACK DANA 60 COULD I SWITCH THE 4.88 GEARS FROM THE 44 TO THE 60 AXEL?

4.88 is the largest you can go in the 9.25".
Found here for the 01. Different r&p for 00 and older.
From earlier in the thread to clarify, do not run different set of gear ratio b/t front and back. If you do put that front d60 w/ 4.56, then take out the front driveshaft....
No the r&p do not swap between the axles as they are different axles.
Lastly, putting in a set of gears also requires a master install kit. Shop rates vary for installation due to experience, special tools, and their attitude at the time of the quote. There are some axles that are just plain PITA to work while others are a dream...literally.
