dana 60 rear will it work?

Default dana 60 rear will it work?

i got a guy with a dana 60 rear axle with 4.56 gears off a 2004 dodge ram 4wd 2500 gas will this fit my 2001 dodge ram 1500 4wd? and what is the bolt pattern for this axel?

No it won't. The 60 is 8 lug wheels and your 1500 is 5 lug.

im going to get a adapter plate for the wheels.

It would be a sweet upgrade though, if you don't mind buying new wheels, and possibly making minor modifications to fit it under there.

Probably since sometimes when "adapting" things it invites other problems. Going to carry two different spares? Adapters may push center of wheels out unless the backspace offsets the difference, etc.

What are you wanting to accomplish by changing out? Just gears?

i want to put 37 13.50s on my truck and i cant do that with the stock axels i have now. it would just be a money pit of broken parts because the tires would be to big for the axels to handel.

Didn't they switch to AAM axles in 2003??

Yes they did, and they are stronger than the dana's as well. First of a Dana 60 and corporate 9.25 are pretty comparible in strength. The only advantage the 60 has is no c clips. The front axle is where your problem would lie, but if you don't drive like an idiot and take of it it will hold 37's. I've seen people run bigger and not break a thing and seen em run smaller and break everything. It's all on your driving style.
