Driveshaft length, maybe.... different size u-joints, but, you can get a hybrid. Wider spring perches on the 60.

I appreciate it. I searched and this was one of the few relevant threads I found. The thread that 72 linked had a link to a 4x4 2500 axle swap. That's what I want to do, less the suspension lift.

I will use the 2500 springs as well, because I'm looking for more cargo capacity. I really wish now I would have bought a 2500 5 years ago, but to be honest, I went to the dealership to buy a new Ford Ranger and simply fell in love with my Ram. I mean this thing was 1 owner and damn near like new.

And a 1500 Ram has a lot more hauling capacity than a ranger

That's why I linked that thread, cuz it + the others it links to pretty much answer all the questions you could ask about the swap.

The 03 should have disc brakes in the rear also as compared to the drum your truck has now

Also your gonna want to make sure your gears in the front axle match the gears in your "new" rear axle or else just remove the front drive shaft! Because some thing will break either the tcase or something expensive in the axle housing

Who me? I just have a 4x2. I was just specifically referring to the way the axle was installed on the 4x4. Looks like it will mainly be moving the leaf mounts. On my 82 F150, everything was the exact same on the F250 axle and the leafs even bolted on directly. Too bad the car companies think complicated means modern. I'll bet there's no engineering reason to change the mounts and stuff. They probably do it, just to make it different for this very reason.

I agree with what you are saying to a point, but dodge sure does a better job of keeping things swappable than the other 2...

What are you wanting to accomplish by changing out? Just gears?

Not really sure how to add things but I have a 88 w250 donor with a dana 60 it has rims and tires and I have a 98 or 9 will have to look 4x4 1500 can I drop the dana and slap it in the 1500 fairly easily due to having both full trucks
