Weekend project, CAI and E-Fan Shroud
Had some free time the past two weekends so I decided to make my 1997 ram 1500 a shroud for my E-Fans and to make a CAI, because my Spectre intake was just sucking in all the hot air from the engine bay due to the crappy heat shield that it came with. Bought a 4x3 foot piece of metal sheeting and got to work.
I think they came out looking alright, still need to be painted, I was thinking black. (The zipties are temporary) haha. What do you think?

nice. i would get anoyed with the giant piece of metal pokin me in the chest workin on the engine. i would have tryed to go a bit smaller with it, maybe just a smaller metal box just around the element. but im picky. the fan shroud looks pretty nice. personaly i like the raw metal look but it would probly be best to paint it to help prevent rust. i also think black would be the way to go. or paint it to match the body color.

Since I made the fan shroud such a perfect fit for the radiator it definitely is keeping it as cool as it can, after a long ride he entry part of the radiator is too hot to touch and about a third of the way across its as cool as it can get. So its definitely an upgrade from the stock fan in terms of cooling. Theres talk that taking the fan off increases your horsepower but there hasnt been any noticable increase. So its been running fine, they are only on when the engine gets too hot so in this cooler weather in CA they definitely havent been putting much strain on my alternator, so far.

gstock: I just have a thermometer that just sticks in between the radiator fans, and an override switch in the cab. its supposed to kick on the fans at 180, either the gauge in the cab is off or the fans thermometer cause in the cab its a bit over 200 degrees before it kicks on, not near the red zone though. The gauge in the car never gets close to the red zone so It seems to be working fine.
Dipsherry: Yea this was my first time actually working with sheetmetal like this, sliced my hands up pretty good. I got the hang of it now, just took a little practice is all.
