Arrow New tire size help please!

Ok here is my delema now I cant say i know a whole lot on trucks as im still learning i was always more a muscle car guy but my truck is a 95 Ram 2500 v10 and right now i got winters on my truck they are 265/75r16 im looking at getting a new set of Goodyear Fierce Attitude M/T tires at 285/75/r16 for size. Now Im wondering will they fit just fine with no prob on my truck or should i keep at the 265/75 size? I think my truck is stock hight too im not to sure but im adding some pics to help. I asked the guy at crappytire but he was like ohh no if you go up a size more then you will mess your truck up your speedo will be like 15km off and will smash into the wheel well. now i cant say he is any pro to tell me that considering he had no clue of the cost of the tires tell i had to show him and he didnt know what to look at for ply rating . So I found this site and thought ill ask the pros. lol so any help would just be awsome.

285's should fit just fine. The heavier duty trucks sit about two inches higher from the factory than their half-ton brethren. You might rub a bit on full stuff.... and at the steering lock, but, that's about it.

Your speedo WILL be off.... but, it will be a percentage value. (the faster you go, the wronger it will be.....) There are calculators online that will tell you just how bad it will be..... but, I am thinkin' about 5-7km/h at 80.

Welcome to DF!

^ what he said, including welcome to DF. now fill out your profile and signature in the user control panel.

be sure to get an E, (or maybe a D) load range tire to match your 2500 weight rating and be a usable work tire that'll carry a load. and don't go any bigger than 285s.

some tire shops won't install anything other than the tire size on the door jam sticker, so you might have to shop around.

basically, you gain an inch ground clearance just by changing tires. If you off-road, it may be important to you..... never know when that extra inch may come in handy... the 285's fill the fenders a bit better as well..... but, that's just an aesthetic thing...... If 99% of your driving is on the road, and/or you do any towing, stick with the 265's. (not like loosing a bit of bottom end would even be noticeable with the v-10.....)

Lol well like I said its a hundred bucks difference so i figure ill just get the 285s, and driving is like a half road and half offroad being out in the country side its mostly very rough road. lol and ya i prob wouldnt be noticeable loosing any bottom end lot power and torque with that engine, and if anyone has one get a k/n cold air intake! for it lol . But thanks again

Have you checked the price of that tire at a Fountain tire shop? I paid the same price for a 315 tire that Can tire wants for the 285's. The tires ride hard and have a little noise to them.

I was not suggesting you going to a 315 tire, what I was suggesting is you shop around for a better price. You might also look into using balancing beads instead of old school lead weights.
