Default 96 1500 4x4 keeps killing batteries

two days ago the truck stalled and had to be jumped to restart. it would die everytime it idled, it would also have to be jumped 50 percent of the time to start. replaced the iacv and alternator and got a battery. but after a 20 min test drive the battery was dead again but the truck was now running fine, it did not stall only idled high in park or neutral. lost why the battery is being killed even through truck runs

What does your volt meter say with the engine running?

+1 on what voltmenter says while running. Check at idel and around 2000 rpm.

Also, somewhere I have seen what the KO current draw should be, but I cannot recall what it is. I'll see if I can find out.

Eitehr you are not getting sufficient charge, or too much draw when off...or both. May jus tbe bad battery. Check connectoions.

How old is the battery? How clean are the connections? Also check the ground wires to the fender and the cable that bolts to the engine just above and behind power steering pump. Pukll taht one and clean and reattach tightly. Then have battery charged up all the way.

Either battery is weak (dead cell), connections are bad, or alternator is bad. Check the free stuff first before throwing parts ($) at it.

Sounds like your voltage regulator took a dump. Unfortunately, it is integrated into the PCM.

Yep, but that's worst case and costly. Checking other things before replaceing that will either confirm or eliminate.
