Couple members here that have never been inside an auto have rebuilt theirs. If you look in the faq section, there is a trans thread by J415 with links to walk thrus and such, plus some other good resources.
If you have the time, tools, and place to do it, GO for it!
up date on this....It was the converter. the splines were striped inside where they go onto the pump.....It was only 15 mths old and yes out of warrenty go figure. Problem solved thx for all the help and keep Rammin
well, I dont know where all of it went but, there were pieces in the pan and the front pump bushing behind the pump seal spun. So, changed the pump also. new seal. so far so good. just hope the tranny lasts a year or till next spring. going to upgrade it then. My trck is a 95 170000 360 mag but I love my trk. You guys talked about plentum gaskets. My trk smokes like hell upon start up in the morning only. Oil seeping in from the plentum? I didnt know they had that problem. I guess Ill address one problem at a time lol. Thx for all the imput you guys on here are an asset to the dodge community.
Remove throttle body and peek down inside with a flashlight and a small mirror. Look in the corners. If oil is pooling, plenum is blown. It wll also clog the cat and can lead to cracked head.
