Question Any Candidates for replacement of Master Cylinder and Brakebooster?

There are tons of threads and posts about using LD2500 calipers on half ton trucks, rear disk swap, and rear wheel cylinders (e.g., GM 1 ton). General consensus is that these are all upgrades to the braking system.

My question is maybe not considered an upgrade, but I don't know. I'm asking if there are better replacements for the master cylinder and/or brakebooster? I've come across Vanco and wonder if anyone has incorporated this into their Ram. I'm also wondering if there are candidates that reduce the package size of the MC and BB. Reduce the space they take up and still perform the same or better.

Thanks for any input whether it be direct experience, search query for me to use, etc.

I did some searching a while back to replace the servo booster (design weakness) for my 88 Vanden Plas (Jag). I found several vacuum booster/MC combos that got good reviews, but I cannot find the links. I must have been on another computer. I can check at the office tomorrow if I have a chance. The diameter of the booster was conderably smaller adn many older Jag owners have naded this swap to eliminate the hydraulic system that is plagued with leaks and failures. I think the diameter of the booster was about 9". This area is tight under the hood of a Jag.

I may do some more seaching. I'll recognize the site if I see it. As much as the booster is in the way of everything on the Ram, this is an interesting proposition!

Did any of the second gens come with Hydraboost? (brake boost assist from power steering pump, instead of vacuum.) That would eliminate the big booster altogether, and replace it with the hydraulic unit instead. Give a bit more room anyway....

My astro van has hydraboost, and I like that system MUCH better than vacuum assist.

After some searching around, cheaper alternative is to swap in similar year CTD hydroboost. The pluses of this swap out are: package size, severely greater braking power, and option to incorporate for steering ram assist.

Vanco also has a kit that has a great reputation.

@HeyYou -- found an old thread here about Hydroboost and you poo-pooed it. lol
