Okay okay enough about oil back to this 20mpg.. and dlyter09 your ram makes your wallet skinny? My ram makes mine fatter driving me to work everyday

Yea well i havent worked a full time job in over a year and a half so it empties my wallet fast lol

^^ Yup, when you're part time or no time these trucks drain the wallet QUICK! I'm still not gonna hold my breathe on the 20MPG write up...

Haha I work 50s at least and drive like 5 miles. Even with the 33s I don't use half a tank

I bought my truck with 70k on it and changed every fluid from the front to the rear, did a water pump, radiator flush etc. Drove it 1000 miles all highway from tucson to dallas and averaged about 16.8. That's a reg cab, short bed 5.2 2wd. So I really want to know how you get 20. Cause even if the Rotella slicks better (I use Royal Purple full synthetic so I doubt there is a noticeable difference) it's not going to equate to that kinda mileage.

I think one important Q here is @ what speeds is the op driving at. I used to get 16mpg out of my truck but that was at 55mph.

Maybe he hauls his truck on a tilt bed he was talking about hauling haha

Well, we get 20 MPG on 55 mph highway. Before I continue this thread much more, i am going to do some major work on the engine, because it is running poorly and then remeasure the mpg. Then I will post back again.

But driving 55 isn't always practical.
