Well it is practical if that is the speed limit. We don't do a lot of interstate travel with this truck anyway.

Yes, you're right. 55 is practical if that is the speed limit. But for those that do interstate travel, myself included, it's just not practical to drive that slow, unless there are special circumstances that dictate slow speed.

I think I can squeeze just over 16MPG on interstate travel running mostly 70-75. I'm content.

Here where I'm at there are no interstates and no open 4 lane highways. 65 mph on the rural 2 lanes is the fastest. So I drive 45-50 most of the time. We don't have a lot of hills(though several mountains) and very little vegetation, so people pass me pretty easy most of the time. I have got 20 mpg a few tanks, but mostly a little over 19 mpg. Which isn't bad since I have a 3 mile, 5% grade to the west and an 8 mile, 4-8% grade to the east. So I am climbing when I leave home either direction. So I am content with 19+. But when I drive 65 mph, I get right around 16 mpg.

dlyter09, that is correct. Remember that this truck has the overdrive with torque converter locking clutch. So it will usually be in overdrive at about 1500-1750 rpm. If it has enough power

So does mine and it would never touch 20mpg in those circumstances

A lot depends on the tires. Heavy offroad tires are heavier and harder to twist than highway tires. I just bought, but not mounted, some like new Lincoln Town Car 265/70/16 highway tires. Each tire has a max weight of 2300#, but are only 6 ply and weigh a lot less than the 235/75/16 Bridgestone Duelers I have on now. So when I get them mounted, I am going to follow the mileage closely to see if it improves.

So you really still claim 20 mpg EVEN with a blown plenum, clogged cat and the other reported issues you have here?

Just a correlation I noticed, but anything is possible.
