Well, the G-Force chips are certainly nothing to have an orgasm over......

I have three separate drives on my machine, so, backups aren't really all that bad... It's just reinstalling all the games and such that gets to be a pain in the keester. Sure, they may be on separate drives, but, I still need to make sure I have all the correct registry entries. Not to mention some of the tools I need for them as well....

But, we are getting WAY off topic here..... Think I may separate this out into it's own thread.

microsoft security essentials seems to be pretty good. best part of all its free! been running that since i got my laptop(almost 2 years now) and i havent gotten 1 single virus. also, spybot search and destroy is good at getting all the crap out too.

good luck on the virus issue!

MSSS isn't supported on XP 64bit..... (at least, not last I checked.) Neither is Combofix...

Spybot didn't get it either.

I have ran:
Malwarebytes.
Superantispyware.
Spybot.
Hijackthis.
Adaware.
CCleaner.
TDSKiller.
TrendMicro online virus scanner.

and a couple others I can't remember just offhand. All report my machine is now squeaky clean. Yet, the problem persists. I can't count the number of times I have been thru my network settings, registry, and Hosts file......

Did you run the full scan of Malwarebytes? It seems like that and/or CCleaner have always gotten rid of anything my computer has ever gotten.

I run Norton 360 at home and End Point Protection on clients at work. Don't remember what Norton app is on server....

But nothing is 100% on stuff. I refuse to use Google and have it blocked at work. Google captures and retains far too much data on users. Course that doesn't mean the others don't do the same, but I am not aware of it.

G Chip or G string? Are you being honest with us?

I use cheap *** free Avast and scan every once in a blue moon with Malwarebytes, use Google Chrome religiously or Opera if Chrome is being stupid, I refuse to use Internet Explorer if I don't have to and, I don't have any issues....
