Default Hey Guys

The time has come for me to part with my beloved 3rd gen...economics....hardly drive her, costing money just having it sit around, blah, blah...anyway, I want to stay in the Dodge family, specifically another Dakota...been looking at some second gens and have a few questions. Most I find in my price range are V6 club cabs. My first question, are the V6's any good? If I've been used to my 4.7 with bored TB, CAI, e-fan, will I be sorely disappointed in a V6? Whats the aftermarket support like for 2nd gens? (*******ly non-existent for 3rd gens). Are there tuners, lift kits, etc? Looking forward to replies and staying in the Dakota family.

no aftermarket support for the 3.9 or 3.7. just about the same as the 4.7 dakota. enough to get a few mods done but nothing extreme. not much power in the v6 either. and gets similar mpg to the 4.7's.

Thanks Winston...not much traffic in this section I see...I'm also looking at full size Rams. But it would have to be an older model to fall in my price range.

Went to look at this today. 1997, 3.9, 4x4, 167k. Things that concern me are an apparent transmission fluid leak and the rear end leak. Runs good, he's asking 2800, I offered 2k. Has some paint issues on the front. What you think?

and the center console is toast

Yeah. No response from my offer. Trying real hard to stay with dodge, but I'm finding many more of the "other" kinds out there in my price range.

I had a dakota and upgraded to a ram and never looked back!. I personally love the rams from 94-02. The 98's-01/02 are the best imo. Way more aftermarket support for engines and suspension wise. You can get a 1500 ram pretty cheap. The extra room is a plus too!
