Default Rims with next tire purchase?

I am currently running 285 75 16 on stock rims and am getting sick of rubbing all the time. I stopped in at discount tires to see what they got. I already know I'm getting Goodyear wrangler duratracs and that im sticking with the 285 height, and that I need 4.5 in backspace to stop the rubbing. This is where you guys come in do I want 16in or 17 in rims, I'm thinking about 9in wide rims, and I'm staying on the cheap side for rims as they will be on year round. I don't want black rims, any suggestion on brands of rims or any help would be great.

I'd go 17's just because its more popular for getting tires. You don't want any black on the rims at all or you just don't want blacked out rims??

hmm, well check out the dick cepek dc2's, I have'em and love them. But if that is not your taste, I've always like the mickey thompson classic lock II's. I like some of the moto metal wheels, but they can be a toughy to find in our bolt pattern.

What kind of wheels are you eyeing up?

Stock backspacing is 4.5 inches..... if you are rubbing the control arms at full lock, you want a bit less backspacing. Trouble is, with wider wheels, you may just move your rubbing problem to some other area...... some folks have had success with re-forming the plastic inner fender, to give a bit more clearance....

285 is the width, the middle number is the height. So if you want a shorter height tire get 70 or 65.

See thats what I thought but the dumb $hit at discount tires kept flipping crap around. I can deal with rubbing on plastic not on control arms. Whats the correct back spacing that I need then 4in?

Gonna vary with wheel design, and width..... not to mention tires.... wider tires are going to require less backspacing to avoid the control arms. If you are sticking with the same size tires, (dimension-wise....) See how much interference you are getting a full lock, and then adjust accordingly.....

the only reason why I want to get rims is to get away from the control arms. I had tires and rims on a couple years ago that rubbed on the plastic that didn't bug me.
