It is on my truck, and in my owner's manual, too.

I can hit 16MPG under those conditions, on flat ground with no wind, a few hundred pounds of cargo, and a full tank of fuel at the start. I suppose that if I unloaded the thing including the toolbox, I might see 16.5MPG or a tad better -- but there's no way I'm taking to the highway without the stuff in my toolbox to find out.

That said, I'm with ya. Ain't no way a 5.9l 2nd gen 4x4 is going to get 20MPG. Especially not with four mismatched tires and a driver sawing the wheel constantly. Something's wrong with the data fed into the calculation of that number.

If you're sawing on the wheel, the front end is certainly not tight. When I put my truck on a straight highway I just drop my left wrist on the top of the steering wheel and correct only for a small amount of camber steer that happens as the road undulates. Where the road crown is consistent I don't correct at all.

Well mine does have a toolbox loaded with tools, and i have 265/75/16 10ply tires thats why i see what i do but throwing 225s on it and taking toolbox out isnt going to give me another 6mpg.....the average is for every 500 pounds removed we gain just about 1/2 mile per gallon...

And my buddy has a 2wd 5.2 with 150k...he bought it from my dad at 120k and the truck was always serviced and never beat on....the best he sees is about 16mpg with 225s that he currently has on it.

I think ive made my point now

Last time I checked, I can use a calculator with the best of them. Anyone in SE WI need a ride anywhere, apparently I need a witness. None of you can drive to get mileage, all anyone worries about is getting from point A-B ASAP.

Coworker owns a 94 318 auto, gets 19. Not going to argue, it does no good. Have a nice day.

That's how ya make friends and influence people: Tell 'em they're stupid.

So now you're my friend and I can influence you, I guess. Have a nice day.

I dont have a lead foot i take care of my truck getting 13.5 is when i take trips to mass which is 268 miles away all highway...so if i have it on cruise how am i putting my foot into it? From the factory it says a 5.9 4x4 gets about 12 city 16 highway.....youd have to have a cai, repaired plenum, major weight reduction, high flow cat with headers, dana 60 manual locking axles with 4.10 gears, electric fans, full tune up to maybe see 18mpgs MAX.....
