Default Deep water, stock?

Just out of curiosity, how much water can we ford in our trucks stock? Not sealing anything up special, no lifts, etc....

Just wondering is all..

Normally you can go until water reaches the fan if you don't have the ability to turn it off.

But, if you go into water deeper than the axles, make sure to check the fluid when you come out......

Deeper than the axles?
As in over? I figured I should check the fluid if it hit the vents but why just over? Bad habit of water leaching in?

The seals are designed to keep diff lube IN, they aren't always up to the task of keeping water OUT, when they are submerged.

Yeah I got a little too cocky once and ended up to my front headlight in mud at an angle, when I did gears this spring the fluid was a little dirty to say the least...

Good seals, and not with 100K miles on them.... and run the vent hose up just as high as you can get it.

Keep in mind, on our trucks, the trans vent is at the top of the pump housing, IN the bellhousing. Going into water deep enough to get the t/c wet, pretty much assures you that you are going to have water IN the trans.... never a good scene. (and a **** poor design for a 4x4.....)

Alright. I guess I just won't drive through water right now.
Not like I need to anyway, I was just wondering.
