She will never be 18.

My step daughter still laughs about one time her boyfriend came over to pick her up. I was conducting a CHL class in our living room. The boy came in to see about a dozen guys sitting around, and about that many guns on the coffee table. (We were getting ready to go to range, and my policy was to personally inspect each firearm to go to range). Needless to say, the boy had her home early........ never saw him again......

You're saying she'll die before she's 17?

jk.

The idea of having guns laying around or cleaning them when my daughter brings home a boy one day is very appealing. Worst case scenario, it backfires and we start talking guns.

When my teenage daughter was dating, I would always make sure I was sitting at the table cleaning my assault rifles when her boyfriend came to pick her up. I did my best "redneck bring her home on time" bit...... most of them I only saw once..... Which she found amusing........

When my daughter was young, she'd get riled up at times, wanted to grow up too fast, and ask when she could start dating. I'd reply, "not till your married", pissed her off. I just thought it was funny.

So Christmas eve found me making a mad dash back to Eastland, load up engine lift, engine stand, jacks, jack stands, rotissierie, tranny jack, floor jacks, creepers, tool carts....and a mad dash back to Elgin before company arrived......only not arriving until after company arrived! It was in the 60's and sunny. But a few margaritas and some single malt, all was good.

Unloaded equipment yeterday...in the 30's with 45 mph wind and still sunny. Eastland and places north where most of my family lives had a white Christmas. Few of them traveled, which was probably a good thing. Never watched deer grazing on Christmas (without lining them up in a scope) before now, but it was a great Christmas. It will be a great New Year if I can get the rest of garage stuff moved before then!

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! And if you are in an area with ice and snow, please be careful!

Heh, the weather geeks claimed we were going to get upward of 10" of snow on Christmas Day.. In the end, we had early morning sleet & frozen rain and a light dusting of snow.

So, the Storm of the Century for 2012 turned out to be a dud.

My Dad told me they had about 2" in Marietta (OK) early yesterday afternoon, but he also heard they were under a "blizzard" warning. My sister in Anchorage is still laughing!

While some were out partying for New Year's, I was loading another 26' U Haul truck with everything from my garage (well, most everything...but that's another story). Loaded big air compressor into Ram along with bumpers and trim from Chevy project. Finished loading at 5:30 am on New Year’s (yes, running about 8 hours behind plan) taking 15 hours to load, and unloaded the U Haul in 7 hours yesterday.

Drove Ram to work with it still loaded. MIGHT unload the Ram this evening after work….and then again, I might not. I feel like I have been beaten with a bat! I still have to go back for one more trip – roll top desk and extra washing machine….seems like the one we have been using decided to stop working yesterday!

Glad to be back at work (so I can get some rest...)

Getting old is a real bitch, ain't it? When we moved in 2007 I described it as feeling like I'd been beaten with a bat. When we moved in 2009 I described it as being hit by a train and rolled over the ties underneath. When we moved in 2011 -- I hired a crew. They loaded the 26' Penske on the far side in about three hours for a couple hundred bucks, and when we got here a bunch of neighbors came over to help and the truck was unloaded for free in about an hour.

Remember those old Western Airlines commercials? "... the oooonly way to fly!".
