Good job. You did make sure that you put a breather on the valve cover after you installed the open air cleaner, right?

If you haven't already, seafoam that bad boy and watch the smoke show!
That will get you even more improvement.

Throw a 180* t-stat and some Autolite 3923 sparkplugs in it before you install the SCT.

The air cleaner I installed has a fitting for the valve cover breather hose so I'm good there.

I forgot to mention that I did seafoam the engine and yeah I'm pretty sure my neighborhood was pissed at me lol. I installed ngk copper plugs when I did the tune up since those are the plugs I'm used to. But I realize this truck doesn't like those. So I ordered the 3923 plugs and got them in yesterday. I may do another sea foam treatment before installing the autolites though.

Also, when I got the plenum kit I ordered it with the 180 Tstat. She's running nice and cool now

I'm going to do the throttle body mod this weekend as well. I towed a crx on a 3500 pound U-Haul car hauler up the Cajon pass this last weekend and my truck was not happy about it. I need to get her to breathe a little better so hopefully all of this will help.

Reset the PCM. That will help. If you had the battery disconnected while working on it, you already have reset it.

The edlebrock filter isn't much of a filter.... I wouldn't run one on a street driven vehicle, and certainly not on one that sees any trail duty at all.

Yeah I don't go off roading much but when I do I'll get something else. I noticed the foam doesn't look like it would block dust or sand but its better than nothing.

Battery was disconnected during the plenum fix so I guess it did reset.

Some trucks like the NGK V-Powers, some don't. I have 3923's and like them. I had stock Champions in there before I did the plenum and the 3923's quieted the pinging down a bit. You might try going back to the stock airbox and getting a $20 Spectre filter. They're pretty good and I actually noticed an improvement in the throttle response when I installed mine. And my paper filter had barely any dirt on it. lol

To properly reset the pcm you have to pull the neg. battery cable and turn the head lights on for 5 minutes.

Ill give the 3923's a shot and see how it goes.

Thanks for the tip on the PCM reset. Ill try to do that today and see if it helps at all.

Also looking into getting the DUI firepower ignition setup. Looks pretty good.

Not to discourage you but most of these trucks don't really need much more than a properly cared for stock ignition until you start pushing some more serious mods around. You could always replace the stock coil with a new OEM unit if you're having trouble.

Thats not discouraging at all actually. I would rather save the money lol. I have a slight miss at idle and I cant understand why. I put new wires and cap and rotor and it doesnt seem that the miss has gone away. Im thinking maybe the coil so I may just try that.

A worn out timing chain and gears can cause a fluctuation in idle and a slight miss. More money.

Yeah, thats what I was afraid of. Im gonna look into it and see what it takes to do it. Surely it cant be any harder then rebuilding engines and Ive done plenty of those
