Get a Viper 2 or Mega Viper. Don't fix yours.

I feel like its worth playing with your truck to go for better gas mileage, if nothing else your teaching us what not to do. I think it's hilarious that we where able to predict the outcome of what you tried to do. 1. you broke your trans and 2. your going to sell it because your not getting what you want out of it.

The #1 thing I've experienced that gets noticeably better gas mileage out of a 5.2 ram is a 5spd, other than that I have not personally experienced much of a difference with anything else done to my truck or truck I've had in the past. The theory behind electric fans is solid and will probably be a future upgrade.

I do plan on making a few changes when I get the money to improve my truck, but they are all with the understanding that I probably won't notice any positive change in fuel economy and I would like to try to avoid mods that might negatively effect it.

yep, that is what i try to do, do a experiment show how it works for my truck, o fcourse i dont' want to invest roller rockers, chains to get better mileage, i kow i will never get my money back out of this half ton truck. it doesn't cost me alot of money, most things i upgraded were things left over from my shop.
i bought this truck with 170k miles, it already has tranny problem, i just change the governor pressure solenoid to make it work, it broke not because of mods i did, may be the horse power increase and hard drive. still not up to my expectation on fuel mileage, only see a 2-3mpg increase.

I just got back from an hour trip last night on the highway through some decent size hills and i was getting 17.2 on 87 with the 5.2. That's not too bad right?

And side note I beat all of you with 78 mpg on my CBR1000RR hahahaha
