Was comparing it to my hemi, first gen hemi, comparing a
Motor designed in 94 to a 2014 hemi just dosent seem fair,
If they still made the v10 it would kill the hemi

hemi 2013– 5.7 L (345 cu in) Hemi V8 395 hp (295 kW) 410 lb·ft (560 N·m)
truck v10 This 488-cubic-inch engine was based on a cast iron block, and was rated for 310 hp (230 kW) @ 4,100 rpm and 450 lb·ft (610 N·m) torque @ 2,400 rpm.
and the big hemi: 2014– 6.4 L (392 cu in) Hemi V8 450 hp (340 kW) 480 lb·ft (650 N·m)

The cummins rumor has been around since our trucks were new. Ford doesn't and never will own cummins. I think it was VWandDodge (or maybe someone before his time) that had a really good detail write up about who cummins really is and all that it owns around the world. Its a global dominate. it was posted here a few years back, maybe four years ago now. Ram has to much at stake by losing the cummins, the 2013 ram 3500 is rated at towing over 30,000lbs! they arent gonna let that go, corporate cant be that stupid.
same with the rumor of a diesel in the 1500, although that one is more realistic, If we could get a decent 4bt, or new common rail disel in a the half ton that would be sweet. but i think the real gold is gonna be if they can market more CNG trucks from the factory, i know they just started offering them and they are expensive, but i think thats where we should be headed.
as for a hemi over a magnum, i would take it anyday. If you ahvent driven a new 1500, its night a day! i know its unfair to compare my truck to my buddies 2010 power wagon, but holy crap! that truck will change your life, could pull down a house! i cant imagine what a 6.4hemi would do in that truck!
and the new 6.7 cummins is a great motor too, yeah the emissions suck, but the new 3500 drive and pull like a dream! i would love to see what the new 8spd transmission feels like. althought i am a little more weary of that...

There was an article on DF not too long ago saying that the Jeep Grand Cherokees would eventually be given a Diesel from the Factory, some believe that the 1500 diesel isn't far behind, I'd buy one, simply for increase power, torque, and fuel mileage.
I think to argue about frame strength in a 1500 in respect to a diesel is stupid, Dodge can fabricate their frames as strong or as weak as they want, regardless of truck class...

Jeep had the diesel in the liberty in 2003, it was a mistake! it was a terribly underpowered hunk of junk. the only problem i have with a halfton diesel is that it wouldnt be a cummins (most likely, due to weight issues) it would probably be another mercedes disaster or overpirced vw engine, or even worse a chinese or indian diesel. I just dont see Ram or Jeep doing a small diesel any true justice. The 1/2 ton truck market is not built for people who do true work.
