Default No heat in cab?

Hey Y'all, As would only happen on an 18 degree morning, I find that the heat in the cab isn't working. Truck runs at normal operating temp., fan works properly in all positions. Just not putting out heat. Replaced radiator, water pump, and thermostat about a year ago. Doesn't seem to affect engine circulation. Blocked heater core maybe? I've never met a Dodge truck you couldn't bake bread in, I'm stumped.

I shook it really hard, and all it did was get more snowy. Is that not the correct procedure? I seem to have misplaced my scrying manual.

There's some good action. My bad, it's a '96 Ram 1500, 5.2 L, 2wd. little red wagon. Always been very dependable in the cab comfort dept., until now

I'm in the same boat. I'm up for a flush and new rad. A good look in the core wouldn't hurt.
If none of that works... I'm thinking swappin stats come spring and winter.

Sorry I'm no help, but I'll be watching closely.

Thx My360, I'm thinking flush the core. Replacing my rad was a breeze, as I was also doing water pump, timing assembly, thermostat, and associated belts and hoses. I stopped at replacing at the heater hoses (until now, if neccesary). Wondering if I can somehow do a flush, or even if that's the proper procedure. It'd be nice if the Lil' Red Wagon was warm again

You should be able to pull both heater hoses loose and then put a hose into one end and spray water through. Strart light with the pressure. You find that it was not clogged but instead had a air pocket in it. In which case is a easy fix. Just hold both ends of the hose up and pour water through, theb hook back up. If it doesnt start coming out the crank up the pressure and see if you can blow anything through.

One more thing to check out is the vent. You need to make sure that the core is not covered in pine needles or leafs.

If you do all thay and still no heat then I would presume that the blend door is stuck and is either completely closing off the heat or letting so much cold in that it cools the heat. If this is the case then just listening for the door to move when switching from hot to cold.

for backflushing with minimal disruption, i bought a couple of heater hose connectors at the parts store. 5/8 or 3/4, i think 5/8, and cut the heater hoses in the middle of the engine bay. backflushed the core both ways. the splices also make for a nice air bleed point whenever refilling the system.

Thanks for the input. Just got in. I'm not sure I fully understand how this works. I'm assuming the fan draws in fresh air (except in recirculate mode), through the heater core and out the vents. Checked the vents on outside, nothing blocking. Looked at hoses and found a splice on left facing hose. Must've been done by previous owner, don't know why. I bought the truck used in '00 and never had a similar problem. Should make flushing easier. just started it to get it to operating temp., gonna try listening for blending door. Suggestions if it's stuck?
