Default Beginning the search for a new truck

Well I had originally planned to do all the body work on my truck but after looking into how much is going to cost just in sheet metal, it doesn't pay. I have started the search for a new truck but I don't intend to buy till fall or next year if I don't have to. I will be looking for another 2nd gen ram of course one with a solid body (preferably white). I'm going to use my truck for parts and probably transplant my drivetrain and IC into the new one to push it to the end. I plan on re gearing my axles to 4.56s to accommodate 35s, maybe 37s, and adding a 5" lift. Unfortunately this will push back Project GTO a couple more years but, I sure do love my truck.

I had an opportunity at another truck JUST like mine, in red.... that was in significantly better condition, for cheap..... just ran like crap, and need a boat load of front end parts... Unfortunately, at the time, I was trying to buy a house, and couldn't spend the money....... Would love to find another deal like that. The body on my truck is getting pretty bad. I have new doors. (well, new to me, thanks to another member on here. ) But, the rockers are shot..... and I SUCK at body work.

That's the problem with my truck. Needs lower door skins, inner and outer rockers, passenger floor board, passenger and driver quarters, new bed floor, ect. Lol my truck is full of good parts, just bad sheet metal so If I can find one with a shot engine that'd be awesome cause my engine is solid (minus slight piston slap when cold) and I'd have a spare transmission.

Check Craigslist or AutoTrader in Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico for a truck. No rust issues, and even shipping will yield a far better result than finding something worthwhile in the Rust Belt.

One of the main reasons I don't miss living in the Rust Belt.

If you find anything in the OKC metro area shoot me a PM and I'll check it out for you, get more pictures, etc.

That would be ideal, as I don't think I would be able to physically come and get it.... wonder how much it would cost to have it hauled up here.... Road Trip Vdub?
