Default Getting ready to rebuild 318

I've put toghethor my shopping list and just had a thought. Since my truck has well over 250000 miles and is 12 years old, would it be a good idea to replace the sensors while I'm in there? Coolant temp, cam position, crankshaft, throttle position sensor, etc.? Any others I'm missing?

Nope. I wouldn't recommend replacing anything other than the O2 sensors if the O2 sensors have 50K+ miles on them.

As for the rest, clean them up really well and also clean the harness plugs with electrical cleaner.

Dielectric grease won't hurt a thing.

After my rebuild, I encountered a problem with multiple misfires and a CKP code. I pulled the CKP sensor from the distributor and noted the connectors full of dirt and grease. I cleaned up the plug on the CKP sensor and its mate on the harness. I then put dielectric grease on all connections and buttoned it all up. No more problems after that.

I didn't see Hookers and Blow in your list. For the kind of money you're throwing down, it must be an oversight.

too cheap for either. Besides, I hate being non-productive so I quit drinking and carousing years ago. Kind of a stick in the mud now, so to speak. :-)

Dude, you can be a stick in the mud even if you DON'T go drinking...I've been around too many of them.

Meanwhile, back to engine talk.
