There's been rumors of the 1500 diesel for a while, glad to see they're actually gonna be making them.

"This isn't a one-and-done or a fad,"
I'm think it is a fad.

I didn't read the whole thing. Are there v6 diesels with IFS? Would this bring back the SFA to the happy-ton?

Flood the market with these would then diminish the value of the other oil burners, I think.

Gonna really make the flowers stink now.

Cars and trucks have to hit 54.5 mpg in federal tests in 2025, which translates to about 39 mpg in combined city/highway driving on the vehicle's window sticker.

i want a truck that gets 54 MPG.

This is a great move. I want one.

No they won't have SFA, and no they won't "dilute" the diesel market.

Yep I deffintely cannot wait for those to start rolling off the line. I've been really interested since I first read about them. And as for the IFS, just look at how crappy most Duramax's are with them.

He thinks Chrysler should "make a big noise" by offering the diesel at little or no price premium vs. gasoline engines.
Anybody know the diesel vendor VM?

The engine will be a 3-liter turbo V-6 from Italy's VM Motori, which has supplied diesels to Chrysler since 1992. It's the same engine that Chrysler had said it would offer in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, starting in May.

In the Jeep, the diesel is rated 240 horsepower and 420 pounds-feet of torque. By comparison, Chrysler's well-known Hemi gasoline V-8 is rated 360 hp and 390 lbs.-ft. in the Jeep.

Should be interesting. Anyone know anything about those motors?
