Anyone know what a "v force muffler with down tube is" that's what the owner before me said it had, what's the best exhaust set up for power? Long tube headers? Brand?

That's a down tube? Would long tube headers help sound and power? What are the best high flow headers?

Ok last question, if I did a carb setup would that hurt mpg bad? Like in this article. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...e/viewall.html. Would a sct tuner be pointless if I got a carb?

Long tubes would certainly help. Not a lot of choices for our trucks any more though. Pacesetter is just about the only reasonable option.

If you go carb, you will have to address ignition as well. Without the computer to run the ignition system, it won't run..... Not to mention if your truck is 98+, you would have to figure out how to run your gauges, as they are all driven off the PCM.

SCT + carb = pointless.

Skip the CAI, doesn't help, as it still draws air from the exact same place as stock.

That intake is for a carb. It would work good though, just remember all the other stuff you are going to have to deal with to make it worked as a carbed engine.

Ignition system is all PCM driven.

Tach is driven by PCM.

ABS is driven by PCM.

Auto Trans is driven by PCM.

Changing to a carbed motor is going to cost a LOT more than the 1K you have to spend.

Go with:
1. SCT tuner.
2. Harland Sharp 1.7 Roller Rockers.
3. Pacesetter longtubes, y-pipe, and 3" single exhaust. (muffler of your choice.)
4. if you have money left, gears. 4.10's would be nice.
