Depends on where you are, how much money you are to spend, and what you want to do with the truck.....

This is the second gen section years 94-01.

MPGs on both aren't good. Depending on options and if you do/dont delete the emissions on the diesel, you'll probably average 17mpg. The hemi will get you around 15mpg. Lift and tires will drop you down a few notches. Towing will knock you down ~5mpg on either. If your looking for a truck with good mpg, an '03 cummins 2wd reg cab srw with a 6-speed is your best bet.

Cummins will pull anything you want, last 3 times longer, and have much better resale. However initial cost, repair costs, and fuel $ are a big factor as well.

If you want to consider diesel don't get a new one, you could probably find a good deal on a 2nd or 1st Gen Cummins, it'll do whatever you want.

Hmmm.... If I were thinking of buying a new truck, I would probably go to dealer and drive both, look at window stickers, then decide......

Thats a good idea Gdstock.....then after that I would go to a used lot and do the same with similar trucks to see what a some miles do to a truck besides lower the price about 5 grand by driving it off the lot.
