Default Gear ratio in the Vin

How do you get the gear ratio out of the vin #.

It should also be on the glove box sticker or on the underhood sticker, depending on what year your truck is will decide where this sticker is.

+1 on under hood sticker.
My truck doesn't have a glovebox sticker.

If you want to get really dirty, you can clean your rear axle and try and find the sticker on it.

I really think it depends on the truck sometimes. :\

The tags on the diff generally are casualties of the first fluid change...... I have rarely seen them still being there on older vehicles.

Well here's the thing, my truck HAS a metal tag, but it says nothing. It's blank. My dad's truck has NO tag at all and the diff has only been into once. (dad is the second owner)

Nearest thing I can figure is that some trucks have them because of the LSD? I dunno, I've seen that elsewhere.

The tag could have been install backwards (numbers facing in).
