Nope no air hammer. I've tried hitting with a BFH and socket+extension. The axle seal started coming apart before the hub would.

I'm about to the point where I'm gonna paint it as much as possible. Install bj on other side and just install the thing and then use the steering to pop it off

Hey Ham Bone, I know that the guy that built my axles up had a very hard time with the same thing, he finally had to use a torch and get some heat on it to break it lose.

You may want to try a hub bearing puller. Rent from your local auto parts store

Combine with hitting the 3 mounting bolts with a socket from the back and it should ease its way out

Remember I'm working on a 60. They don't have one big enough.

I have a couple tricks to try this weekend involving long pipe and a BMFH

Alright fellas it UPDATE time

I got the rear axle and rear drive shaft painted today and also got my U joints from Rock Auto in the mail

What i used as a degreaser. All I did was wire wheel, then soak it with this stuff, let sit for a couple minutes and then rinse it off the water hose. Just be careful not get in down the breather hole, i screwed the thing back in to stop stuff from going down in it.

Next here are my U joints, As you can see they are all Moog, all MADE IN USA, and all have grease zerks. They totaled around 130. Its every u joint on the drivetrain.

all in all a succesfull half day. POR-15 really goes far. Think about how much you need, and then pour half the amount, and then pour half of that amount.
