QCL was talking about the OP, not the other guy.

Financed with minuscule payments or not let's say it takes him ten months to pay it off (to make the math easy for my sake) if he were paying what it's worth he'd pay 80 bucks a month, tack one 50% interest from some crazy bank that may not (or sadly, may) exist. That's still only 1200 bucks. So he maybe making minuscule payments if it takes him the same amount of time to pay off 1500 at 150 bucks a month he just paid off that truck with 80 percent interest or so. Hardly a deal, and it's not worth it, that's my opinion.

All I'm saying is I got a fully loaded 4x4 with 100k miles for the same price he's going to drop on this thing... and I had to shop for mine on a time constraint because my only vehicle went to scrap status and needed wheels. The OP, if I'm recalling correctly (I hate my memory... :/) has 4 cars and another vehicle so he has time to shop around and just save the monthly payments he would be making to get a sweet ride instead of a beater.

Edit: The interest rate is guesstimated for 1500 over ten months and is assuming the truck is worth around 800 bucks (because that's what I truly feel it's worth at the most) It doesn't matter how you look at it, you're either paying 1500 for an 800 dollar truck or your being financed at a crazy percentage (anything above 10 percent is high to me, anything above 15~ is high to anyone and even if it takes you three years to pay it thats still ~30%+ interest if my "first thing in the morning guesstimate" math doesn't fail me lol)

well you know what they say about opinions. all I know is around here if it runs and drives good and has working a/c, that's $1500 all day long. $800 here gets you something with a bad transmission or the such.

what it all boils down to is the market in which the OP lives and what he's willing to pay.

Exactly.

I paid about 2600 for a 96 3/4 ton 4x4 with 168k miles, blown plenum, bad rear brakes, and assorted performance issues. I considered myself lucky to get it at that price at the time.

Location, location, LOCATION.

It would help if people would *at least* put the State where they live in their profile location so others can understand the basis of their logic in discussions like this.

Edit: It's in post #16. South Carolina.

---

To everyone else; Around where I live it's only worth 1500 with issues if it's a 4x4, OP said it's a FR. My whole intent is to express that he could probably find a truck that wasn't beatup if he just saved up what he planned for a monthly payment each month to buy the right one when he found it. Besides how is he gonna go muddin' and hill climbing in a 4x2

wow.. thanks for all the replies..

no im not going to take the truck mudding. Like i said i'd use it as a house truck mostly, and maybe an ocasional puller for a car or something, or a shooter truck (one to take to my friends farm with our guns and go shooting with where a camaro wont go well. lol)

around here, in South carolina, we have a lot of folks that love trucks obviously, and the cheapest ive found of this truck from 94-01 is 2000 without it being beat to hell.

i know some of you all think its not in great shape and it is beat to hell. Well most of the body is straight, minus the front turn signal lamp and grille as i stated origionally. other than that it appears to be all cosmetic. the motor is good and strong and is the trans and rear.

Let me ask this.. what do you guys think is beat up about the truck?

personally the 1500 in perfect condition, man i think you got a hell of a deal, not a normal sale deal. at least not around here. the average price im seeing is 3500 -4k for a truck in this condition

oh and i have been working on filling out my profile.. hope i am meeting expectations..

thanks

Dude, if everything checks out mechanically and the little body bits don't bother you (most are an easy fix anyway), BUY IT.

Here's what I got, as I mentioned there's a little body rust I have to patch up, but it's sound mechanically and the interior is mint (dirty currently from mudding and having tools/trash bag/etc, messed up seat cover and steering wheel cover, but everything underneath is mint just need new covers to keep it that way) 1500 Sport, 4x4, 100xxx on the dash, bed cover, power everything, fully loaded, everything works. Granted when I bought it the trancase was a little clanky to shift into 4h/l due to not being used, I had to buy a speed output sensor and a IAC (which I didn't need, just figured since I was cleaning the throttle body I'd replace it) So along with misc little things and maint. (oil, filter, air, plugs,IAC,tb gasket,tb cleaner) I don't have 1700 wrapped up in this thing. (UNLESS you count gas )

Maybe I just got this thing at a felony steal and don't realize it?

Nice interior.

But that truck would be $800 down here because of the rust. lmao
