Default Serpentine Belt ... Am I crazy?

Okay so I blew a belt. Truck is 96 Ram 1500 5.2 with Air.

So I buy the belt ... 97.5 or so inches for a truck with air.

Too long.

Check part # on brolen belt. Its an 88.5 which parts book says is for No Air.

WTF?

Interesting...I went to the O'reilly page and found the same thing.

Can you take a picture of the front of your engine? You might have a dealer-installed aftermarket A/C compressor.

Either that, or not quite routing the belt correctly.

What if somebody had put underdrive pulleys on it and you didn't know it when you bought the truck? That's possible too, right?

Under drive pulleys will put you around 95" sounds like your missing something.

Routing is exactly as per diagram found underhood.

The beltt that was removed had the 885 part number.

Was broken down in the middle of nowhere (natueally) and was faced with another day for a replacement; instead I McGyvered a 6-rib 85-ish one, bypassing the Air pulley Drove to civilisation and bought an 885.

Build Sheet shows factory air.

I will try to gat some photos up.
