Would it not be 60's? I thought v10's only came in 3/4 ton up?

Ooops. Quite right. Guess I was still stuck on another members Off Road Edition.

Thick cut gears will still work in the front though. Might work in the rear too, but, if you had a posi, and needed to rebuild it, would have to yank the diff, as you wouldn't be able to get the cross pin out with the ring gear in place.

I don't think the V10's ever came with a D80 rear as I believe that is cummins manual trucks only, but if they did: you would need to change the carrier to re-gear it as they use a different carrier for 3.73 or higher (like 3.54), and 4.10 or lower (like 4.88). if it is a 60/70 combo, than no carrier change is required.

Going on memory here, the V8's only got the D60 rear, V10's and Cummins autos got the D70 and the Cummins sticks got the D80's.

At least if I'm remembering correctly.

Am I the only one thinking "why should OP need to be spinning the tires" and then lecture him about maturity and safe driving habits?

The lecture should be more like a warning about being safe, but spinning tires, there's nothing inherently wrong with that.

Even I do that occasionally.

But a V10 should be able to smoke tires with ease, if it can't something IS wrong with it. I see V10s spinning tires all the time around here.

Because sometimes, you just need to see how much torque an engine can put to the ground.

I shouldn't have replied, but I did.
