The truck hasn't ran for a while, but I got it running again. It is making a ticking noise that is coming from both sides of the motor. Sounds like it is coming from under the valve covers on both sides. Any ideas of what it is, and how I can fix it?

 

Lifters not pumping up? How's the oil pressure?

sounds to me like the hydraulic lifters need more oil. if it been sitting for too long it is possible that they are underoiled, and thus make a rattling what not.. the more you run it the more they should quiet up unless theyre stuck... / seized up.

 

^^^ ditto. Change the oil and drive it, if they dont quite down then try some thinner oil. as long as its not missing then they should pump back up.
