Default School me on header coatings.

I'm getting around to ordering headers for my V10 and I'm looking for info on the coatings. I can get stainless with ceramic or just get stainless and get them jet hot coated.

Is anyone running either coating and how is it holding up over time?

I have ceramic on my Coronet headers and complete exhaust and I like them. I am also getting my manifolds and exhaust system (except catalytic converter) ceramic coated for my Ram this weekend. It helps to reduce heat and looks clean.

What's the going rate on doing that? I have a passant turbo and I've heard ceramic coating is good for a few ponies.

For the exhaust and manifolds will cost me about $125. I'm sure you will get pricing across the board depending on where you live. That includes blasting prep and coating. I think that is a fair price.

Are they coating the inside as well as the outside?

I read somewhere the ceramic coating applied by the header manufacturers does cover the inside as well.

I'm looking at either Gibson or JBA shortys and they both come with or with out ceramic coating. I want something that's going to hold up over time. I checked out the jet hot site and they've got some seriously cool coatings with a lifetime warranty.

I think I just answered my own question.

Verify they do the inside as well. Otherwise, your headers will just erode away from the inside......

The gibbys are not coated on the inside, but they are made of stainless so they will last a good long time. I have over 5 years on mine so far and they are holding up very well.
