Default Hughes tuner

I found a Hughes sct tuner on Craiglist from a guy who lives about ten minutes from me, he's asking 200 and won't budge, he claims it is unlocked from his truck, what do you guys think? Good deal? Any way I can get screwed? I don't hardly know anything about tuners but I want the benefits from one

Verify that it is indeed unlocked. You can probably get tunes from Hemifever to upload to it. (I know nothing about the hughes tunes..... didn't even know they did that trick)

You answer almost every one of my posts lol, thanks and how can I "verify" that it is unlocked? Do I just tune my truck before I pay him? I've heard of people using their stock tunes and selling them to people

Yep. If you can install a tune on your truck, it isn't locked. (but will be vin locked to your truck one you do.)

I don't have a life.

You are welcome.

Oddly enough, I actually find this kind of exercise "fun". Yeah, I am (more than) a little off.

I'm starting to rethink, after more reading, I don't think it will be worth is with my mostly stock motor I don't have (but I wish) a cam or anything like that and I don't think it will dm much for a stock motor

it would be worth it if you plan on modding your engine in the future...if it's an SCT, then 200 bucks is a steal

Your truck probably has the death flash, so, even someones stock tune to get rid of that, and also torque management, will be an improvement.

SCT plus a tune from Hemifever is a nice bump on a stock truck. I have just an aftermarket muffler and cat for "performance" but the SCT still made a nice difference, passing became waaaay easier and it just seemed to get up and go a lot better! Highly recommend if you can get it!
