Tire sizes fairly close? Doesn't seem like that minor difference would account for the difference in performance......

Maybe raise the anchor on the Dodge?

The 2009, like most newer trucks has 17 inch rims with 285/70R17 tires. The Ford has 16 inch rims with 265/85R16 tires.

Even still I can't see such a big drop in performance at 55MPH but I could easily be wrong.

While that is true, and the Cummins is only 408CID vs 460CID on the BBF, the Cummins has the advantage of a turbocharger. The 460 does not.

However the Cummins will hit 33PSI boost (which is the most I ever see) at 55MPH and still won't feel like the BBF. So I am simply quite curious how such a powerful engine can not compete with a significantly less powerful engine at that particular speed. Like I said, at or above 65 the Cummins is king, albeit the old Ford does pretty good too LOL, nothing like the Cummins at that speed though.

500ci 8,000-10,000hp...

name one bigger motor that can out accelerate that on the ground short of strapping a ton of rocket boosters to one...not even a turbine can out accelerate those bad boys... I've seen plenty of bigger motors that can't hold a candle to those hemis...

POS automatic... also have to take RPM limitations into account.

compare my cummins to your ford

she won't bog out... might leave a black mark on your trailer, but she'll gitrdone without downshifting lol. adding a hill to climb just makes my boost and power climb..

btw if you have a DPF delete, you should have the EGR deleted as well, or at least unplugged. EGR should not be in use at all.. all that POS does is blow soot in the intake... glad my cummins didn't come with all that emissions crap on it.

Dragster motors are way cool, but, I don't want to have to rebuild my engine every time I drive my truck.

Umm, we are talking towing trucks, not dragsters. Keep in mind acceleration is far from the biggest thing here. For me it's primarily the lugging power on the hills.

And comparing the Ford to your Cummins would simply be unequal. Lol. Your cummins could probably blow the doors off of our Cummins anyways...

You are right about RPM limitations. Redline on the 460 is 4500 and the Cummins is something like 3,000. And the Automatic is built but I'd much rather have a G56 or whatever they come with. Or better yet, I'd love to have a Roadrunner behind that Cummins.

DPF is deleted but no EGR delete. It's planned but not until we get gauges and probably head studs. H&S does not recommend a block off plate for whatever reason and I can't figure out why except for regulations...

Right now the 2009 is scheduled for $1200 of body work to fix the tailgate the dealership damaged and refused to pay for. Thankfully insurance covers most of it.
