got a thankyou letter from my electric company in the mail today. thanking me for keeping a path to my meter clear, so the meter readers dont need to climb thru the snow.

Dang! You still have meter readers? I have one of those networked meters so it can be read remotely. I was one of the first in my area to request one and that was about 5 years ago.

yeah, guess theyre being phased out within the next year. 2016 is the projected project complete year.

the western part of the state has already been switched over. im in the middle of having a 2nd service installed on my property for my shop, and that will be getting a digital "wifi" meter.

i am lucky to have a lineman as a friend, i get frequent updates, and find out before anyone else why i lost power, and when ill get it back!

There's been a lot of bad press about the new fancy smacy meters lately....

I'll stick to the old kind...

By "bad press" are you referring to the paranoid right wing freaks who believe the government will control electrical usage if a house has a Smart Meter?

As if it's not possible with a 100 FREAKING YEAR OLD design.

Never had a problem and I laugh the people who poo-poo them, along with the idjits who stockpile incandescent light bulbs.

We have the newer electronic type here, no problems yet.

And you're right, it is possible with the old design too...

I've personally been switching to halogens for now, but IMO LEDs are the way to go, assuming you don't want CFLs, which I'd personally rather not handle. But to each their own.

Several hundred thousand Sensus Smart meters are being replaced due to fire concerns..... companies don't do that just for grins.

What do you want to do in the mountains (dumb question for a honeymoon, I know), but the answer helps recommendations.
Picturesque; maybe the Blue Mountains at Katoomba, NSW.
Skiing; Mt Kosciuszko at Thredbo, NSW, or anywhere in snowy mountain range... the snow season is relatively short (June-Oct).
Haha I thought Australia was kinda rugged. I was just curious if Australia had some nice mountain ranges that you get away but still be in the vacinity to do other things. I've always wanted to go Australia and I thought it'd be a nice place for a honeymoon.
