Most of the folks you talked to should have known better. Especially Hughes. Adding almost 50 cubes to the engine IS going to dramatically alter it's demands for both air, and fuel. No way on god's little green acre can a stock programmed PCM compensate for that. Why whatever salespeople tried to sell you that bill of goods is beyond me. (aside from the age old motivation of: Profit. Wonder if they were commission-based.......)
But, at least you have found a solution to the problem.... Unfortunately, after the fact. That's just the way life is though.

A 408MPI without a tuner? I would never go back to that place if I were you OP. Thats just false advertising....
Sorry to hear you got screwed around OP, but that shop should have known better then to try pass that off on you. Theres just no way you could build a motor like that without custom tuning, let alone a built motor with stock cubes. Best of luck with your situation.
