We can't control other countries and I don't think we should try. But that doesn't mean we shouldnt regulate ourselves.

Diesels make more power and get better mpg than they ever have, yet everyone hates the new diesel fuel regulations? I would love to have a new CTD.

I love being able to breathe clean Air. You won't see me cutting my cat off.

I bet other countries would clean their act up really fast if we started imposing some hefty fines on imported goods from these unregulated places. However I dont think this is feasible considering the economy.

Having the stringent EPA rules is supposed to be why a lot of companies moved their operations to third world countries in the first place.

They could have cleaned things up but that would put the price of things way up.

In order to make more money for the same thing they sent the jobs over seas where they could pollute to their hearts content. Of course having folks who were truly desperate for work who would work for nearly nothing was just a plus.

It was mostly for profits but what they ended up with is an America where its hard to get a job and earn enough to have a place to stay, let alone buy something.

True. Who, in this country, would work for the equivalent of 5 cents an hour. Lol

What those companies failed to take into consideration though, was that the folks they put out of work, can no longer afford to purchase their products...... so, effectively, they are cutting their own throats.

My ex wife worked for a company that did this. Fairly decent size cotton denim garment company in Georgia owned by an elected member of state government who took full advantage of NAFTA after it went into effect. Closed two manufacturing facilities in the south, laid off something like 800 employees and sent those jobs to mexico. Downsized from two huge plants and an entire office building to about a thousand square feet of rented space in a corporate park.

Ex was a bookkeeper who did mainly payroll and benefits. She was let go after a few months as payroll was farmed on site for all but the ten to twelve office staff maintained in the US. They basically had the AP girl absorb her duties. They had a bunch of quality issues at first, but they were eventually ironed out.

Things were so bad down there that truck shipments of product to the US had to be scheduled to only drive on "convoy days" where multiple companies trucks would travel together under paid escort to the border by Mexican military. Non convoy trucks had nearly a 100% rate of being hijacked.

I'm a HUGE fan of bringing back a complete tariff system for any goods coming into the country, US owned or not to equal the playing field...

Yep, there used to be a dozen or so local factories in this area that made different car parts. They are all gone now. There were several punch press shops where I worked over the years and they too are all gone now.

Well here we go again. 9+ people killed and 20+ wounded in Oregon so now all the liberal bleeding hearts will be trying to take our guns away or make it so hard to get one it won't be worth trying.
Why can't any of these idiots see that taking the guns away from the law abiding public isn't the answer? And disarming people is just going to make it worse. If people could pack weapons on campus things like this would happen less. I hate that all these people were killed and hurt but taking my guns away isn't going to make it better!!!!!
