Question Infinity System Question

So I've got this 01' 1500 Standard cab and it has the Infinity system in it (Tweeters in the A-pillars) and it has the stock radio installed currently. I got a new radio for Christmas that has USB/Bluetooth/LED and alot of nifty things and would like to install. I've read that its not as simple as a plug and play type thing with the use of an adapter due to the speakers being individually amped. So what will I need to do to the speakers or the whole system so that I can use this new radio? Some adapter or simple fix? Or would a complete set of new speakers be the best/cheapest option here?

If you have the amp under the seat you need to remove it and connect the output from the head unit to the speaker leads. Get a wiring diagram before you start it will be very useful!

No amp under the seat, would it be anywhere else? Or even a non-infinity system with A-piller tweeters?

The amps are near the speakers, I.E. in the doors.

Would it be easier and more rewarding (better sound) to just swap for speakers that will work right away, and not have to fiddle with all the infinity wiring and stuff?

Try this for a fix;
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...peakers-2.html

It worked just fine for me.

Changing speakers only wont work (well) because you need an amp, and the stock Infinity setup has the amp on the speakers... just change the head unit as well and all will be fine.

Well I was planning on the head unit swap :P So is replacing the speakers the best option when changing head unit, rather than trying to make the infinity speakers work? And how do you setup the tweeters in A-piller to work with the new head unit?

Check out the wiring diagrams for the speakers and such, I *think* the tweeters are driven from the door amps....... so, need a crossover (or choke) and possibly an amp for them.

Yes, the tweeters are driven from the door speaker amp...
But... I wired them in parallel to the new door speakers, and the new head unit output powered them just fine... in fact they are louder than the stock setup.

there is something ( module maybe ) that plugs in to the aftermarket head unit that will allow you to keep the infinity speakers.. I cant remember what it is called but the shop near me told me I would need one if I wanted to retain stock infinity speakers/amps if I went with an aftermarket head unit

find a reputable install shop and they will sell you whats required
