I would never advise anyone to buy a Durango. They score bad in crash test ratings.

A lot of people complain on this forum that their trucks get "poor gas mileage" (and it's also their daily driver). The following video makes a good case for finding a used Pruis for cheap as a daily driver.

Personally, I'm a pretty big guy and I don't easily fit in most small cars. When I do squeeze in one, I get claustrophobic and can't handle it for very long. My drive to work takes me through national forest land in the wee hours of the morning that is teeming with very healthy deer which don't always follow the rules of the road. It's not a matter of whether or not you might hit one, it's a matter of when you hit one. I've taken out 3 with my '04 Durango in the last few years and it lived to see another day. The picture below is a former employee who hit just one on the very same road.

That said, I prefer to spend more on fuel and be comfortable than to save gas and wonder what's waiting around the corner.

Wow. If only the deer were that enthusiastic about getting into the freezer...

There's nothing that's really deer proof as there are just too many factors involved.

I posted that because it's a myth that bigger vehicles are always safer. Using some Google-Fu will yield results where, in many cases, larger SUVs are more unsafe compared to smaller sedans.

I simply can't afford a second vehicle. Not the purchase, the maintenance, the insurance, etc. Of course, I don't drive much.... so, it's not really all that much of an issue.
