Man, this motor pulls... and pulls.... and pulls. I'm up to about 280 miles now and still trying to get used to it, even without the fuel sync set and wrong tune (still waiting on Ryan).
I was coming back from a side job today and had some nice long straight aways to play on. I decided to do some rolling wide open pulls in 4th gear (first time running full throttle). I let it come clear down to idle (about 35 mph) and stomped on it. It's a smooth tractor up to about 2100 rpms, then it gets into the torque and just keeps pulling Hard.
I chickened out at about 120 mph, or 4500 rpm. The road just got to bumpy. I did that twice, then decided to try 3rd in the same fashion. It pulled down to about 15 or 20 at idle, then stomped on it. In 3rd it took off hard then hit the power band and set me back in the seat. I let it pull to 5500 rpms (about 75 mph) before I backed out of it, and it still wanted more. I've hit those rpms a few times during this break-in, just to make sure it would take it... but it was always with a very gentle right foot.
So far it feels like the power is exactly where I wanted it, which surprises me even though I researched the heck out of it. It just pulls a lot higher into the rpms than I anticipated. I'm looking forward to getting everything dialed in and getting a load behind it to see how it handles it... after its fully broke in though.

That's sounding like a whole bunch of fun.
When it's all done, it would be good to see what your target/design numbers where, and what you actually achieved.

I'm curious what it's actually putting out too. When I started this build, it was for torque in a usable range, 2000 to 3000ish rpms. About the same area as the stock 360. I figured it would put out around 350 hp/ 450 torque. With how it pulls now compared to the old 360, I'm guessing it's not too far off.

The fancy program I have on my laptop has a dyno of sorts. You add all the info (weight, gears, tire size, ect.), then go make a hard pull and it should spit out approximate numbers. I'll have to try it and see what it says.

Frank,
It's great that you are so happy with your build. I'll bet you have a grin on your face that would last for hours. My time will come hopefully next spring. Keep us posted on how it runs once you get the fuel sync done and stuff.

Definitely looking forward to yours running. Got your care package today and the battery. It's inside charging now. The box had a tear in it, but everything inside was good. Looking forward to what I can mess up tomorrow. Lol.

Shipping damage.

I'll post another update to at least let everyone know how far my fuel sync is out when I get there.

Not too far off for just eyeballing it. I'll try to get it set after work tonight.

Frank,
Glad the scanner got there okay even with the damage to the box. So it looks like you didn't have any issues finding the fuel sync. Use it for however long you need to.

Thank you again. I decided to play with it this morning while waiting for equipment to warm up. I think I found the fuel sync before I found the actuator tests. Fairly intuitive platform and easy to follow.
Unfortunately I'm not going to get the sync set tonight. Late getting home and too many things going on. Have a few parts (idler, tensioner, and ac) to throw at this pig, and trying to make room for a big fuel tank in the short bed are taking priority at the moment. I have to blade 55 miles of road in 2 1/2 days right behind a big desert race. Vegas to Reno by Best In The Desert if you're wondering. Gotta keep the tree huggers at bay. I didn't feel like having to haul fuel every day (120ish mile round trip) so I found a 200 gallon tank to stuff in the bed. Unfortunately the tank is 27"x27"x60", and the bed with tool box is about 4 inches shorter. So bye bye tool box for now. Need to build a headache rack soon anyways to mount lights and an antenna so this is a good time to move it. Any who, enough jabbering for now.

Frank,
Are you lost out in the desert somewhere? Still grading road for the race and pissing tree huggers off? I'll bet you don't have as many tree huggers there as I do because all you got is cactus to hug. Hehehehehe........................
Any new news about the truck? Running any better now or still ain't have a chance to work on it? Just thought I would check in to see how it was going.
