As for painting it, I know I should but I probably wont. It still has a good coat of black enamel on it. Living in Nevada, we don't have to worry about rust like some of you folks do.

Dude paint it Orange.

That spec sheet says 6.8'' pushrods. But you're using different heads and rockers so measuring it would be best.

I'm still waiting on word about the intake I bought, hoping I didn't get scammed. We'll see how that goes. If I did, hopefully Paypal will cover it.
Not that they cost that much but I would have loaned you mine if you had asked I won't need mine for a few more months right now.

I appreciate the offer sir. I figured this way I have one in my shop for any future work I do on magnums (probably never, lol). I think it cost $15 and was delivered last night.

Hambone, I'll just go get some krylon and paint everything hemi orange then add some plum crazy stripes. Whatever doesn't burn off will be custom painting. Lol

So, stock pushrods are 6.875 inches long (6 7/8"). After measuring the gap last night, I came up with 6.685 (just under 6 11/16"). Adding .030 for preload of the lifters gives me 6.715. If you look at summits page for pushrods, that's kind of a bastard size. If I remebered right the sizes went 6.6", 6.7", 6.707", 6.75".
With those sizes I think the 6.7" will work for me. I'm going to measure this again before I order though, just to make sure.

Frankie, quick question. Did Odessa use valves with stock length valve stems? The reason I ask is the heads I purchased from them for my 390 build had longer valve stems than stock. I had to have custom shims made for the pedestal rockers (just like the HS's you purchased) I purchased to work properly. Installed without the shims caused major geometry issues.

I'm not sure to be honest. I'm guessing they are the stock length because of how the rocker tips sits on the valve stems when they're bolted down (without pushrods). I think i'll mark the tips this weekend and see what they look like with the adjustable pushrod I have.

Speaking of pushrods... update for the masses. My first measurements were off. That's what I get for trying to measure stuff in a hurry while tired. The actual gap, without preload, is 6.75". So unless I have a problem with my geometry I will be ordering 6.8s. That's all I've got for now.

Here is a link to my cost break down, with part numbers, prices, and total cost. Towards the bottom are a few things I haven't bought yet, but included them so everyone could see where i'm at with it.

Excel cost breakdown

If I can figure out how, I will add the info in here directly... but it might take me a bit.
