Hipotek HPT218XR Xtreme hydraulic roller cam... If the link doesn't work.

This was the Hughes cam that looked kinda nice.

I rather like the Hipotek cam. Go with the 114, or 112 lobe separation, and get good power, reasonable idle, and good vacuum for the other stuff. Shorter duration than the hughes cam.... so, I suspect it will actually develop the power down low, where you want it.

So I'm thinking IMM all the way.. they will give me air gap kit for the same price as Hughes. They offer a gasket and bolt kit along with a bracket port job ( pinch porting, plus intake bowls, short turn) on EQheads with valves, 4 angle seat, beehive springs, a top end kit that comes with studs, guide plates, roller rocker arms, and pushrods. Would you guys recommend a specific brand (or kit)of roller rockers? I may stick with that cam from hipotek with 112 or 111 LSA. now with all those bring said, are these the BEST options for my naturally aspirated fuel injected 408 street truck? I don't wanna build it cheaply or on a budget, I wanna build it perfectly..

"Perfect" is a pretty relative term, when it comes to building engines. I think you will have a great combination there.

What brand/ratio rockers are they including? (if they give you the option, the Harland Sharp fellers have good reviews.) Studs and guideplates will require machining the heads. Are they going to be doing that?

I believe they do when you get the kit but I'm gonna double check. I actually ordered a Hughes cam today will be here tomorrow. The duration on the hipotek cam felt a little low for a 408, and the lift also a little low for the flow I'll be getting. The Hughes cam is 226/230 .555/.565 lift and 110 LSA since I'll run a 4 speed auto. I want the 408 to breathe freely(don't wanna choke it with too little duration). I actually did some research and what I found said a .030 overbores cam durations should be between 220-230, with more lift and duration on exhaust so I believe this Hughes cam will be great. Next up, heads and valvetrain!

Finally got the time to install the cam and timing chain. So I'm looking at lifters from hipotek and Hughes.. is there any reason I should save money and get the $200 set of lifters(look the same between Hughes and Johnson/hipotek)? The rhoads superlube seem worth spending the extra money. Gonna order one or the other soon. Ordering the heads in about a month hopefully. Talked to Robert Griffin aka MonteC to see if he might build me a tranny, he's getting back to me with an estimate soon. Hesitant to buy a PATC tranny and TC ever since I read some customer service reviews.. asked a buddy of mine if he thinks my rear end and axles will hold up against the 408 and he said no. How true is that? Opinions on lifters?

I think you can get a set of mopar performance lifters for right around 100 bucks.

You've talked to MonteC? How is he doing? Please tell him we miss him.

$1800 and he's gonna build my 46re! He's researching on some torque converters, and said this rebuilt 46re will have no issues handling my 408 stroker. So pumped! He seems like a real honest guy, truly enjoys the work and isn't out to screw anybody over. I'm also getting a one year warranty with the tranny! I'll be putting down a deposit for it next week.

The Mopar performance lifters will be ok in the 408? Also if I do it right, I'll be pulling around 450 hp and 500 tq with the build I've planned out. Engine is getting moved to a friend's heated shop for winter.
