I've come here infrequently the last few years to get some tips, but my 98 1500 QC 5.2L just keeps going, so it hasn't been as much as 5-10 years ago. But I figured I'd show you folks what the wife and I just bought. I'm keeping my beloved 2nd gen that I've had for 12 years, though. She's still going to be my work truck for years to come. It's a 2018 1500 SLT 4x4 3.6L. 14,100 miles. Wanted a Hemi but the 3.6L has plenty of power. It doesn't tow so well, but that's what my 2nd gen is for.

Even the V-6's in the newer trucks have more power than the V-8's in the older trucks..... Maybe not as much torque, but, its very close.
It's actually quite a bit quicker than my 5.2L 2nd gen. I could have bought an identical Hemi for $1000 more but since I'm keeping my 98 for work I couldn't see paying more and getting worse fuel economy for bragging rights.

I didn't think the fuel mileage difference was really all that much between the six, and the hemi???
Your new truck likely has more gears in the trans too. That's a big contributor to better acceleration.
I already ordered nerf bars. Next up will be a 3" lift. I love this truck but it's inexplicable to me that the front end is lower than my 98 4x2. I drive through washes going to and from home. One wash is narrow so the front is climbing before the rear is on the bottom. My 98 doesn't have any problem. This 4x4 drags the front end. I had to fill the bottom to keep from ripping the front bumper fairing off.

True. It's an 8 speed. Over on the 4th gen page a lot of folks say there's a 3 or 4 mpg difference. I'm getting a real 25.5 mpg on the highway. Another weird quirk. I drive slow to save fuel in my 2nd gen-like 50 mph average. This 4th gen has a 65 mph sweet spot where it gets the best mileage.

That's the advantage of lots of gears, and better programming.
I think I would faint dead away if my mileage display said something over 20 for more than three tenths of a second. I'm lucky to break into double digits. Fortunately, I don't have to drive much, and even then, don't have to drive far.
