Hey guys, I am new into the dodge world, I traded my Chevy S10 for a 1999 Dodge ram 1500, V8 5.9L gas, 4x4
I'm opening this thread since I am new here and I wanted to log my progress I suppose.
The truck came with some issues,
CCd and No Bus, leaking heater core, leaking radiator, transmission wire harness was spliced together improperly, drive line from transfer case to front diff is not connected/off the truck, miles of custom wire in the truck,
This is what I have found out so far,

I have fixed the CCd no bus, was due to the PCM wire harness rubbing on a bold from the cold air intake
I have yarded out the miles of wire and custom home stereo system wired up in the truck.

I have spent 10 hours in the last 2 days working on this truck, my plan is to restore it to what it use to be and then go from there, today I'm going to rewire the transmisson wire harness and hopefully get rid of my shift solenoid cel.

This truck is a electrical disaster, going to finish wiring repairs inside the cab, after that I'm replacing heater core and radiator, both are leaking. attach the driveline from transfer case to front diff, need to buy bolts and ujoint, replace transmission output shaft seal, tune up, alignment, fix my sc, not sure what's wrong with it, relay was pulled when I bought the truck.

Engine PCM wire harness repaired.

Transmission solenoid wire harness repaired.

Rewited both headlights.

Rewiring all door speakers and tweeters since they were disconnected. Bypassing on board amp.

I went through the same thing with my truck. I had to rewire the whole front end from the firewall out.

Inside wiring is all squared away, I need to completely replace the PCM wire harness or buy another replacement solenoid transmission plug, not sure what route I wana take yet. I stopped by the junk yard and picked up bolts for the front driveline, hooked it up and was able to test 4x4, it works, thankful for that.

My plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor come in this week so il be replacing those, doing the oil change and replacing the transfercase output seal, I'm hoping this helps with better gas mileage, I'm averaging 6 mpg if I'm lucky.

You want O2 sensors as well. Have you check the Plenum? It is usually the main culprit for crappy gas mileage. My 8.0 liter gets better than 6. Even when I am towing......

Looks like it'll be a nice truck after you overcome the previous owner's work. Consider a new timing chain if you replace the plenum gasket, almost everything is out of your way already. There is a problem with headlight switches in our trucks. It's fixed by using a relay to turn the headlights on. LMC makes a prewired kit or Daniel Stern has a kit that you supply the wire and can hide the wires a little better.
