How much power will a remanufactured 47re hold?
Hey guys, looking for some advice from people who have walked this road before me. I have an 01 2nd gen that I only drive a couple of times a week that I'm thinking about upgrading the transmission on. It's in the shop currently getting a new FASS fuel system, oil pump, and a new HX35 turbo. I got a remanufactured 47re almost 2 years ago from these guys (it has 18k miles on it now), https://reman-transmission.com/trans...des/?code=47RE, and I'm just wondering if it's going to hold the extra torque from the new fuel system and turbo. If not, I'd appreciate recommended supporting mods as I've heard good things about some shift kits, trans coolers, and torque converters that can help. Any advice is much appreciated
It has some upgrades, but, doesn't say just how much power its rated for..... I think stock it'll take 450 lbs/ft..... How much torque is your engine going to be putting out with the upgrades?
Didn't the Cummins put out 505 torque is you got the HO?
Yes keeping it cool is critical. But make sure it isn't generating excess heat in the first place. A good shift kit or a sonnax sure cure would help by increasing flow and extra holding pressure on the clutches to help them with the extra torque. A good converter can help as well. Really though staying up on your band adjustments and fluid changes as well as monitoring the electrical components in the trans is the most important thing you can do.
Depending on deep you pockets are you can get "upgrades" for it. The link doesn't give details of what parts where used(manufactures/brands).

After working in a shop dealing with many Cummins, I’d have to say make sure it has billet parts, billet tc and flexplate, input shaft, and don’t turn it up to much, you want power do an nv4500 swap with twin disc clutch and avoid all the common problems and the 5-7 grand trans rebuild costs. I don’t trust the autos, seen to many crumble

I used these parts and got most of the them from ebay. I bought a kit with most of these parts in it.
