Default Exterior Mods

What are your opinions on exterior mods? I'm pondering what to do with this 98 ram I got in blue, I wanna do headlights, tail lights, third brake light, probably the grill, and definitely an aftermarket rear bumper since mine is rusted to sh*t. I'm mainly wondering the cons to any aftermarket headlights, I'll have my daughter with me most of the time so I want to be able to see well. I've got an idea for rims and tires.

Is the truck a sport model? They used different headlights. (four lamp vs. 2 lamp for non-sport trucks.)

My headlights sucked when I bought my 98. (sport, but, early production 98, so, still 2 lamp system, 4 lamp was 98.5 and up.) I replaced the headlights with OEM replacements, new sylvania silver star bulbs, and a heavy duty headlight harness from LMC truck. MUCH better. I can actually SEE at night.

What kind of improvement did you see with the HD harness?

Biggest thing is, I don't have to worry about my headlamp switch melting down. However, with the relay system, the headlights get direct battery power. It doesn't have to go thru a bunch of other stuff, that tends to choke voltage, so, brighter lights, using the same bulbs. My lenses were REALLY yellowed though, so JUST doing those was a major improvement. Before the work, I would HAVE to have my high beams on to be able to see going down my (country, dirt) road.... after the change, no longer a requirement. When properly aimed, which I did in my driveway.... light output is MUCH better, and with the high beams, I can see a LONG way..... Great for SEEING the deer before hitting them.

Looks good. How is the quality of light from the drivers seat? How did you go about making them?

They are bright! Light output is amazing. I put them in the oven and opened them up, I ordered from multiple websites to get what I needed. Overall I'm in the headlight for $700 with the housing (junk didn't allow for up and down adjustment so I will buy a factory style set and redo them). The picture I attached is of just the low beams with no fog lights
