I think the higher idling is normal. Mine usually idles at about 1000 if I am coasting up to a stop light or something. I think the ancillaries need a few additional RPMs to ensure everything is operating properly such as engine cooling, oil pressure and such.

210,000 miles
96' 2500 HD 5.9L 4x4- its prolly not called the HD version, but its the 8800 GVW
version

Replaced:
ball joints
trac bar
shocks
steering stabilizer
attempted o2 sensor-fail
harmonic balancer
alternator
Tires

still runs good- but kills gas and steering is pretty damn loose, feels like a workout on long drives

166000 the only big tings replaced, radiator, heater core, water pump, timing chain, but was my fault I run the truck without antifreeze just water for several days, recently I am replacing all the worn suspension parts, replaced starter, iac valve, and currently replacing the whole steering sistem for a rack & pinion but most of the stock parts were in good condition,

I'll play...

'98 1500 Sport, 95K

Picked it up to replace my '93 Grand Cherokee ( with 242K on the clock! )

So far, I have replaced a tail light bulb.

Nice forum, glad I found it!
