How many miles do you have on your truck!
1995 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L 4wd
420,000 miles
Everything has either been replaced, welded or rebuilt except for the actual Engine and everything inside it.
I change my oil a lot. Even had to replace the speedometer so 420,000 miles is a very close guess, my old odometer
stopped at 405,000 last year.

I know... I'm over 200k on a 98 5.2, and was looking for an excuse to rebuild the engine (stroker)... I guess not yet ;-)
However, steering, trans, TC, and axles, are all getting close to needing attention.

I've got 205000 on mine. Wheel bearings has been the biggest thing to replace so far. replaced water pump and heater core and that's about it.
I use this truck for work, I am a trail builder in Oregon, this truck gets lots of dirt and gravel road time. I'm interested in squeezing some more life and power out of it and would love any input. Instead of buying new, I'd rather go old school and trick the truck out a bit,

Rear end pinion bearing failure (overhauled the entire rear end including half shafts w/ wheel bearings, seals, etc. and used it as an opportunity to install a Yukon LSD carrier).
Front wheel bearings, upper control arms, ball joints, front brake rotors (and pads a few times, of course)
BTW, the most expensive of the Bosch Platinum spark plug line cured this little 6 cylinder's well-known appetite for spark plugs. The first symptom is a slightly rough idle and barely noticeable hesitation to throttle on launch from a stop. Haven't had any of that in many 10s of thousands of miles, whereas the old plugs would get funky somewhere in the 20,000 mi. range.
had to replace a water pump seal and the battery.
Yes the 15mpg on the freeway sucks. But it still runs like a champ
1998 5.2 4x4 with 192k havent had the truck long but still has original trans and engine the man i bought it from was a retired chrysler dealer mechanic. Said he always did regular maintenace on it and it runs strong still.... He did tell me about a year and a half ago he had to replace the rear end in it........
