They look a little taller than mine. Which ones did you buy? The 1994-98 style or the 1999-02?

1994-1998......there was an 02 CTD (2nd gen style) parked next to mine when we were installing these and when we compared them they looked the same as his except black, so what the difference is between the 94-98 and 99-02 i do not know....

How did you hook up the wireing? Was it already there?

BOTH of your trucks look awesome !! This is a mod that I've been contemplating for quite some time now.

Its a mod im glad i did.
-The wiring was actually the easy part.Therewere not any wires already there, although on the newer models there may be a hot wire inthe overhead counsel. Anways firsti drilled 2 holes per light, one for each wire. The hot wire i fished through to the inside of the cab, and the ground i scratched off the paint around the hole i drilled and mounted it with a panhead screw. I then took some auto-body anti-rust crap idk what it was called and put it around the exposed metal around the ground. Then got the lights lined up and pre-drilled the mounting holes.Used silicon around every hole i drilled to help the gasket keep water out and then put some silicon on the ground after the anti-rust crap dried. That made the entire assembly H20 proof.
----THE WIRING----
With all the grounding done, and with the hot wires fished through to the inside of the cab,i spliced all my hot wires together with crimp connectors and pig tails, ran the hot down the driver side A-Pillar, down the side of the dash into and through the fuse box, down under the dash, out the firewall (this is all actually very easy),along the side of the battery, and spliced into my driver side parking light.

 

Sounds like a LOOOONG way to go, but it worked !!

Wasn't there a way to tie into the lights before going into the firewall? I remember hearing that the wireing for the roof lights was already there ( possibly in the A-pillar ), it just may or may not be used.

 

No, there is NOT any pre-existing hot wire in the ceiling.

It is very easy to run the wire down through the A-pillar (even easier if you pop off the plastic cover).Originally I tapped into the wire on the back side of the light switch, but I then became concerned about the increase current draw causing a premature switch failure. So, I have since gone through the firewall too and spliced into the parking light wiring.

Just yank off your weather stripping around the door and pull on the A-Pillar. She'll pop right off.
Mayfair-its actually not that bad, it just sounds like a mess.I did indeedkeep my eyes out for existing wires and didnt see anything that would work. Now that its done i am glad i did it the way i did(and glideman88)=through the firewall and spliced into the parking lights. Now i know EXACTLY where the wirehad been runif a problem should arise it will make trouble shooting alot easier.
