Default TPS Voltage @ WOT?

Been wondering a while if my TPS needs replacing and wanted to test to make sure..not just replace and hope. Hooked up the meter and slooooowly opened the TB to check for any dead spots on the TPS. Seemed like all's OK there.

Idle was 0.65v.
I got 3.88v at WOT. Is this normal or should it be more???

Thanks for any info!

Sounds low to me. If I remember correct should be around 4.5volts at WOT.

Yup, although .72 is the optimum low end voltage. When you get a new one, you can check the TPS and "calibrate" it by doing this.

http://www.v8performance.com/tipsandtricks.htm#TPS_Mod

It won't turn your rig into a tire smoking beast, but it'll be more responsive.

Thanks for all the input. I'll be picking a new one up in the morning and will do the TPS mod. while I'm at it.

Thanks again!

Stock my 96 was .55. After I drilled itsetting itfor .70 or higher threw a code with the MP PCM. I ran it at .68 volts without a code.MPPCMmayhave a different max idle voltage methinks.

OK, put the new TPS in and still get about 3.8v at WOT. At idle it is at a cool .68v (no mod needed I assume)Tested the power in and its well over 5v.
Any takes on this?

I'd calibrate it, mine was about .68mv, the truck seems to be more responsive at .72 mv. Check your voltage at WOT once you've done it.

Thanks dsertdog, I'll give it a shot tomorrow and go for the .72v.
I'm thinking of using the "star" type lockwashers on the screws, thinking I'd have less worry about the sensor moving while tightening. Ever use them? Looked at NAPA but didn't see them. Maybe Radio Shack.

I didn't want to grind on my TPS body for washer clearance so I tightened down the screws. The screw heads on my 2000seemed to be large enough to cover the holes. It's been two weeks and everything seems to be ok yet. The pictures on the forum seemed to show a different design of screw.
